Lanang Country Club
The Lanang Country Club is located right in the heart of Davao City and a few minutes away from the airport. It is an 18 hole, par 72 layout sprawled on a 40 hectre area punctuated by pillars of 50 year old coconut trees.
The fairways and greens are lush through most of the year since water is no problem. The high water level has made maintenance easier. Watering in Summer is only for the green, through systems contrived with underground pipes from the ponds pumped b a mobile tractor.
Most of the holes in the coconut lined first nine have much water situation to contend with. The second nine is elegantly intertwined with the story of the famous giant ipil-ipil, propagated in Davao a few years ago. These giant trees have afforded the challenge to the golfer, compounded with many water hazards.
Doglegs are the order of both rounds in this course, and ready would one find a straight shot on the long holes. The greens are small but well-bunkered. Originally planted to Titton 328, these have shown adverse conditions occasioned by too much water and the change to native Korean grass was in progress when Lanang survey was made.
All round the course, noticeable is the hand of a woman, flowering shrubs, even orchids, abound near the tee mounds and isolated spots through the green. It has a club house of modern architectural design while the facilities for the golfer are on the ground floor of a 2 - storey building.
